For example, on behalf of these clients and related classes, the firm collaborated with several other prominent class action law firms throughout the country to successfully represent a class of 700,000 physicians in litigation against health insurers, including Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, Health Net Inc., Highmark, Humana, Prudential, and Anthem/Wellpoint, among others. The physicians alleged that computer software programs were used to unlawfully deny, delay and diminish payments to doctors.

The settlements resulting from this litigation have exceeded one billion dollars and individual managed care companies have undertaken to reform their practices as a result of this litigation. These reforms were designed to streamline communication between physicians and these companies, reduce administrative complexity in the claims payment system and help improve the quality of the health care delivery system.
